University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources

A LITTLE CONTEXT

Hello, I’m Paramveer Singh.

Agricultural Technology Area Farms Advisor · UC Agriculture and Natural Resources · UCCE Monterey County

I am an Agricultural Technology Area Farms Advisor with University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources, based at University of California Cooperative Extension in Monterey County, Salinas.

My work connects field research with the decisions growers make. I evaluate agricultural technologies, including spray drones and automated lettuce thinning, and study biological products, nutrient use efficiency, and the adoption of practical decision support tools.

From water management to agricultural technology

I earned my Ph.D. (2022) and M.S. (2019) in Plant and Environmental Sciences at New Mexico State University, following a B.S. in Agriculture from Punjab Agricultural University (2016).

My doctoral work investigated native perennial grasses as circular buffer strips in center-pivot agriculture. My master’s research examined winter canola responses to irrigation strategies in the Southern High Plains.

Before joining UC ANR in October 2023, I served as Research Project Manager at Colorado State University’s Irrigation Innovation Center, working with the Testing Ag-Performing Solutions program.

Research that reaches the field

Extension is central to my practice. I share research through field days, workshops, articles, farm visits, and conversations with growers and agricultural professionals. My goal is to connect evidence with the practical questions facing specialty crop production.
